All you need to know about IIFA 2018


 

The greatest of all awards in Bollywood, The IIFA 2018 were held in Thailand on 24th June. The night was all glamour and star-studded. Hugest of names from film and TV industry were spotted at the event. It was the 19th IIFA this year. The night was hosted by Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh. The two being charming as well as witty at the same, announced the winners and performers.

 

 

Although it was a night full of stars, some of them just could not make it to the event. Like Irrfan Khan who is in London for his treatment; Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandes, Sonakshi Sinha, and Katrina Kaif who are busy with the Dabangg tour in USA.

 

The celebrities stayed at the Marriott Marquis Hotel Bangkok and the fans were gathered around to see the glimpse of their favorites.

 

Our team went all the way to Bangkok to attend the prestigious night and get all the updates from IIFA 2018 just for all of you. We also had a great time witnessing Rekha’s ‘Salaam-e-ishq’ performance on stages after over a decade. It gave everyone goosebumps and nostalgia.

 

 

The performers’ list included Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, the recent heart-throb Kartik Aryan, Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Bobby Deol made a comeback with ‘Race 3′ on the stage too, with his performance on song ‘Party chale on’. Also, Anil Kapoor with the hosts, moved to the song ‘Tareefaan’ from ‘Veere di wedding’.

 

 

 

 

 

Here, we have the list of winners for all of you.

 

The Best Picture award was undoubtedly won by Vidya Balan’s ‘Tumhari Sulu’, which portrays her as an RJ. The movie has an enchanting storyline and Vidya definitely added more to it.

 

Best Direction award went to the Saba Qamar starrer ‘Hindi Medium’. The movie has been a hit over the world.

 

 

Also, ‘Hindi Medium‘ bagged another award for the Best Actor (Male) for Irrfan Khan’s phenomenal talent.

 

 

The Best Actor (Female) was awarded to Late Sridevi for her performance as a strong mother in the movie, ‘Mom’. This movie also received an award for Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Nawazuddin Siddiqui. This was definitely one of the best movies in Bollywood for the recent times. Pakistani actors Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Aly played leads in the movie too.

 

 

The award for Best Supporting Actor (Female) was bagged by the Amir Khan starrer ‘Secret Superstar’ for the performance by Meher Vij, who played the mother of the superstar in the movie.

 

The Best Story award went to Amit V Masurkar for his movie ‘Newton’, with the actor Rajkumar Rao.

 

 

Actor Konkona Sen Sharma bagged an award of Best Debut Director ‘A death in the Gunj’.

 

 

The Best Playback Singer (Female) was awarded to Meghna Mishra for the song ‘Main kaun hoon’ in the movie ‘Secret Superstar’.

 

 

The Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Jab Harry met Sejal’ won an award of Best Playback Singer (Male) for the superhit romantic ‘Hawayein’ by Arijit Singh.

 

 

The award for Best Music Direction was shared by Amaal Malik, Tanishk Bagchi and Akhil Sachdeva for the movie ‘Badrinath ki dulhaniya’.

 

 

Best Lyrics award was won by Manoj Muntashir for ‘Mere Rashke Qamar’ from the movie ‘Baadshaho’.

 

 

Kriti Sanon made it to the award for Best Style Icon, and Arjun Kapoor won the Next IIFA give away.

 

IIFA 2018 honoured the late Sashi Kapoor and Sridevi for their contribution to the Indian cinema all these years. Also the award for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema was given to Anupam Kher.
