Judges selected 8 bands in Pepsi Battle of the Bands episode 2 (Auditions)


The auditions continue through the second episode as more and more talented bands tried their luck. While it may be a tough call, the judges’ panel (including Fawad Khan, Meesha Shafi and Farooq Ahmed) has to mutually decide upon the top bands who will qualify to battle it out in the main rounds.

 

The first band that performs is called “Ehl-E-Rock” it is a group of four, Noman Butt is on drums, Saad plays Guitar, Waqar is a lead vocalist and Waleed Mazhar plays bass.

 

The name of the band is not just a name but it is an ideology and it was produced in 2009 by these four guys, Ehl-E-Rock’s main genre is hard rock. They have already released an English music album, but they prepared Urdu song especially for BoB, it was a pretty big challenge for them and they worked really hard on it.

 

The judges seemed to enjoy the song and they appreciated the band also said that they have the potential and can do a lot more. The judges loved the performance.

 

 

The second band performed was “Khamaaj” it’s a band of 9 members, they have been working together in the band since two years, the band performed on a song called “Bezubaan“. The judges liked the performance but were not seemed to be fully satisfied with it, they gave some really good advice to the band, asked the band to learn from classic bands so they can be more perfect, Meesha loved the performance and said that she would love if the band stays in the show and go forward, also Fawad liked the structure of the song and said it was layered really well.

 

The third performance was by the band of trio called “NAFS“, they trio performed on the song Main Shah by Manjhi Faqeer. The judges did not seem to be much impressed with their performance, Meesha liked the voice of the vocalist, Farooq also agreed on it but he picked out some mistakes on the guitarist, he said you have to be perfect in it to give more feeling to the song therefore need to work harder and step up, Fawad was also expecting some energetic performance and also feels they need to work more on it.

 

The fourth performance was by a band called “Badnaam” which means Infamous in English, It was formed in the year of 2009 by its members Ahmed Jilani, the lead guitarist and vocalist, and Lala Ahsan the bass guitarist. Their music is something that reflects the voice of the inner self, and tries to free the soul of the corrupt, dishonest, and material value of the attractions of this world.

 

They performed on the song called “Alif Allah” composed by Ahmed Jilani himself. Joining Ahmed in the process is Lala Ahsan the bass guitarist and Salman Albert on drums.

 

The judges enjoyed and loved the lyrics, their sound, grooving and put them on hold, Fawad loved the performance and definitely want them in the next round.

 

 

Next band “E-Sharp” performed on a song called “Chaahay Say Saal” by four guys, their fields are totally different, they all come from a professions, one of them is a lawyer who is the vocalist in the band, second one plays bass and is a content writer, third one is the lead guitarist and is a building supervisor, the guy on drums is a doctor. They started this band in 2005.

 

The judges said it was a strong performance and loved the fact that they all work together as a united and they are not struggling together in any ways that’s what matters the most in a band.

 

The next performance was by a band called “Yoon“, founded by Enayat Ullah Vocalist/Musician, Sannan Mahboob (Instrumentalist/Musician), Hamza Khan (Vocalist/Guitarist). Yoon is now a national fame holder band. They performed at different platforms. Their mission is to bring innovation, renovations and modernization in Classical and Semi Classical visionary music to transform into a new trend.The Band’s slogan is “A Musical Journey” which is correlated with its originating word the YOON which is a Pashto word, means, they explore young talent, give them a chance of audition and select them one of our family member just to promote the regional talent and expose them to the world. Yoon has its own Video production Team “Video Box Productions” being led by Faysal Hayat who is emerging film maker.

 

The band performed on a song called “Chhaap Tilak” by Amir Khusro. The judges found the performances not as good as they expected and have asked the band to experiment more on their song. Unfortunately they did not get selected for the next round.

 

 

Next band is called “Darvesh” who started their musical journey by listening to their hearts and by doing what felt right. Along the way they met few more crazy and talented musicians like them who shared the same vision. Slowly and gradually the family started increasing and they all started bonding till they became a powerful 10-Piece Rock Ensemble led by passion and compassion.

 

The judges enjoyed the song so much that they wanted to download their songs and listen to them in their own time at their homes. Judges also put them on hold for the next round.

 

Many bands performed right after another and judges did not approve them for the next round, they asked some bands to work harder and come back next year and try again for the show.

 

That was it for the episode 2 of Bob, now it was the time for the judges to choose 6 final bands for the next round. They found it very tough to choose and requested if they can select 10 bands for next round but unfortunately the team only allowed the judges to choose 8 bands. Finally they came to the final decision and chose the best 8 bands for the next round.

4)  Madlock

5)  Aura

6)  Jasim

7)   The Pindi boys

8)  Darvesh
