Hastey Hastey
Director: Ramanjit Juneja
Even the director (Toony) who tries to pack the movie with a lot of entertaining moments doesn't succeed. The movie has some strong points, too. First of all, the cast comprising Jimmy Shergil and Rajpal Yadav fully justifies its characters. Rajpal Yadav is seen playing a triple role. Here, his jokes do make the audience break into laughter, not once but time and again. Jimmy Shergill as usual puts up his best performance. Apart from this, the two girls -- Nisha Rawal and Monishka -- though new to the industry attract the attention of the viewers. Another strong point is the movie's music by none other than Anu Malik. It will not be an exaggeration to say that the audience will be found humming its songs on his or her lips, even long after watching the movie. The title track is the best of the lot. The US locations have been shown fantastically, and its credit goes to Damodar Naidu's cinematography. Among the lapses, The other weak point is that its actors like Jawed Sheikh and Manoj Joshi have no scope to justify their presence in the movie. According to the story, Neel (Jimmy Shergill), a brilliant student at Columbia University and the pretty Maya (Nisha Rawal) the love of his life, are on the verge of starting a new life together in New York. Sunny Malhotra (Rajpal Yadav) is Neel's roommate, teammate and conscience. Being a compulsive flirt, he gets involved in a series of hilarious situations with his American love Tina (Sarah Thomas). Just when life seems perfect, Neel accepts a career opportunity that requires him to go to India to set up a call centre there and contrary to Maya's wishes. Tanvi (Monishka) is a young executive who goes out of her way to help Neel and his team in India. Attractive and aggressive she is instantly attracted to Neel and tries her best to win his heart. Neel being deeply in love with Maya rejects Tanvi. Under these circumstances, the movie has very poor prospects at the box office. Besides, the audience would prefer to watch the climax of the IPL cricket matches. We feel sorry for the director, music director and its lead actors for their brilliant performances. |
