Chennai Express & OUATIM 2 might not release in Pakistan

Pakistani film makers always complain about Bollywood movies that are promoted and played in cinemas, they are of argument that in order to improve Pakistani film industry, Lollywood movies must be encourged but sadly it is not happening. As we all know that currently Bollywood movies are ruling Pakistani cinemas and very few Lollywood movies have been released in a long time.

If we see this scenario from Indian point of view, Pakistan is a very big market for them and generally revenue is dependent on the cast of the movie.

Surprisingly Pakistani distributors and exhibitors are willing to take action on this poor condition of film industry in Pakistan and they have decided not to release the Shahrukh Khan starrer Chennai Express and Akshay Kumar starrer Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 which is reportedly set to release World Wide on Eid 2013. Reason given for this decision is that Pakistani filmmakers want their films to gain more prominence this Eid.

This can again be seen from two point of views: First, For Indian film makers, it could cut off a major share of revenue of the respective film’s producers. Second, For pakistani Film makers it may result in high revenues, depending on the quality of the films.

For the cinema owners in Pakistan, this could be a bad news because the demand for Pakistani movies is very low, this is so because only very few movies that are released in Lollywood could match the quality of Indian movies.

No official notification have been issued by Pakistani authorities about abandonment of these movies on Eid.
