Fawad Khan is one of the biggest stars in Pakistani Entertainment Industry. Since his breakthrough with Humsafar, he has been highly selective about his projects in Pakistan. Over the years, he has starred in several dramas and a few films, including Pakistan’s highest-grossing movie, The Legend of Maula Jatt. He also made his mark in Bollywood, appearing in a few films before a ban was imposed on Pakistani artists working in India.
Following his role in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Fawad Khan was also barred from working in India. He was set to make his Bollywood comeback opposite Vani Kapoor in Abir Gulaal after nine years. However, just as the film was ready for release, the Indo-Pak standoff in May led to its shelving. During that time, Fawad faced significant backlash for not openly criticizing India, and his co-star Vani Kapoor even deleted all their pictures together.
Now, with Hania Aamir’s Sardar Ji 3 and Imran Ashraf’s Enna Nu Rehan Sehna Ni Aaunda hitting the screens, there’s finally an update on Abir Gulaal. The film is set for release, with a slight name change to Aabeer Gulaal. Like Sardar Ji 3, it will release worldwide except in India. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on 29th August 2025. This comes as welcome news for Fawad Khan, who had already completed filming and was actively promoting it internationally.
