Uber and Careem becomes one to serve you better

It is true. The biggest players in the world of cab services have become one.

The news is out that Uber has acquired Careem for 3.1 billion US Dollars. Uber has taken over all of Careem’s services in the Middle East region, including some of the biggest markets like Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Even though both the brands will work under their own names, the board consists of three members from Uber and two from Careem.

Uber bought Careem

The Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi said that Uber has taken a step forward in expansion and Careem being the key developer of mobility in the Middle East, was the best one to work with. He added that together they serve better and bigger.

On the other hand, Careem co founder and CEO Mudassir Sheikha said that joining hands with Uber will be beneficial to the core purpose of simplifying people’s lives. Together, we can do it better and increase the availability of resources in the region.

Careem and Uber have, undoubtedly, made lives easier for people in the Middle East, in terms of mobility and transportation. Further it will speed up the services with apps like CareemPay and CareemNow.

Careem’s ability to develop innovative solutions to everyday life and technological structure, combined with Uber’s technical expertise and global leadership, will sure be the best solution to our transportation blues. Also, this will serve their riders and captains, as they will have better opportunities to grow and earn.

Both the companies sent an email each to their respective customers to acknowledge this acquisition. While the Careem email included logos of both, Uber and Careem, Uber sent the email with its own logo only.

Monopoly never does the best to end consumers but an improved service is what we are still looking up to. What do you have to say about this?
